I am trying to setup SNMP traps receiver on APC 1500 so the unit can send SNMP trap to HPOV server. I configure DNS and perform SNMP trap receiver testing and I see message SNMP traps send successfully. However I never receive notification on HPOV server.
Before I chase down network team to see if firewall is the root cause, can anyone tell me what requirement to setup SNMP trap receiver send successfully?
Thanks.

I tested by pressing test button on the UPS website then I get message that the trap send successfully. However I don't see the notification on the HPOV server. Network team told me that the network is wide open since it is a lab network.
I am thinking to connect my laptop and simulate sending snmp trap from my laptop but I don't know what program to use.

Hello Indo,
Here in our lab I'm using GetIf to send traps to the network management card and to receive traps I'm using a program called Trap Receiver. To the best of my knowledge these two programs are for free.

if the test trap is working, i am not sure what else you need. how are you testing to see if traps are received on your NMS (the HPOV server)?

Thank you for your help, Jon. I use Getif and Trap Receiver softwares and I am able to confirm that the firewall doesn't block the port.
