In the process of changing the battery, the wiring harness that connects the unit to the read out panel was pulled off the circuit board. APC sent me a new harness that plugs into the board. The one I have is soldered directly to the board. Can the internal board be replaced? I was told by a repair tech that it couldn't.

Is the circuit board cracked? If it isn't, solder it back on. If you can't do it, take it to a TV repair shop. It doesn't take an expert to resolder the wires into place.
The wires are fairly thick and I can't imagine what you did to pull the wires off the board.

I'm not sure who the repair tech was that you spoke with, but I might suggest giving Coastal Business Machines a call. They may give you the same response, but it's worth a shot I suppose.

Or.. maybe kvar can help you out.
If you can't repair it, you could also call up APC sales at 800-890-4272 and consider a trade-in for a new UPS.
