Remove MSP Firmware from AP9617

I pulled an AP9617 out of a AP9225 Masterswitch. I was looking to see if I could remove the old MSP_262.bin firmware and add the firmware for the standalone card (v3.5.8)

Does anyone know if this is possible, and how I would do it?

It would be a money saver for the company for approximately 12 sites that we have with this setup.

The reason is that they're not really files. So uploading either an AOS or an APP (doesn't matter what the filename is) is treated as a command to reflash the device with the uploaded firmware.

The process I followed was this:

1. Copy files to work directory (apc_hw02_aos_361.bin and apc_hw02_sumx_358.bin)
2. Log into APC Management card
3. Type "put apc_hw02_aos_361.bin" and let files transfer
4. Management card reboots.
5. FTP back into card
6. Type "put apc_hw02_sumx_358.bin"
7. Card will reboot
8. Navigate to web page.
9. Update done.

Thanks for the help!

sounds good!

BTW, did those other files remove themselves or are they still sitting on there? (the old files)

As soon as I put the v361 file on there it automatically removed the other two.

At first I thought I killed the MGMT card but then it was just rebooting.

as long as its definitely an AP9617, i believe you should be able to just download the firmware executable wizard with the firmware you want to put on the card and reflash it that way.

if that doesnt work for some reason, you can still download the executable to obtain the new BIN files and then do it manually via FTP [with this method|http://nam-en.apc.com/cgi-bin/nam_en.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=8515] but first, remove the files via [FTP commands|http://nam-en.apc.com/cgi-bin/nam_en.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=6873] then putting the new files on there.

I'm not able to remove the two files. Do you know the correct process to do that?

apc_hw02_aos_264.bin
apc_hw02_msp_262.bin
event.txt
data.txt
config.ini

I also have a directory: sec/

When I try to delete it says this:
550 DELE requested action not taken.

I've tried both files first.

hmm

try putting the new AOS and APP .bin files you want to add in there first per the upgrade procedure and then later, see if you can remove these other two. if that doesnt work, i will see if i can test one myself.
