We have a new Smart-UPS Ultra 5-20 kW APC unit that is just a few weeks old and are receiving the following message.
Critical - RS232 comm alarm detected [140B-00A0].
There is no RS232 port on the unit and nothing plugged into the console port on the front of the unit. We were getting constant emails as it goes from detected to cleared over and over so I had to disable this alert from email.
Can you please help us understand what this means and how to fix it?

I finally got a response back from Schneider support. They suggested to put the unit in bypass mode and follow the steps in this article to remove the intelligence module.
This was their response.
After reviewing the logs our next steps in order to solve this issue would be to please check IM connector (Refer to Modular Ultra Intelligence Module SRYLIM for removal and installation guide) and please after removing please take pictures in order to validate that pins are not bent or damaged.

In order to perform this is necessary to put the unit in Maintenance Bypass. In order to receive assertive instructions for this procedure I would advise to please reach us out while near the unit in the following phone number:
Phone: 800-800-4272, option 4, then option 2
Once the unit was back online and completed the self test the SR232 Comm alert was cleared.
