RE: SUA3000RMXL3U Fans

We recently purchased several SUA3000RMXL3U and a few older SU3000RM3U units, installed new batteries and all is well. One thing we noticed though, some of the units run the fans intermittently to control the internal temperature, while some of them do not. All the units do run the fans during testing or power outages so it doesn't seem to be a fan issue.

Is this a settable parameter? Or perhaps a firmware version issue? Is not a really big deal, but 2 of the SUA3000RMXL3U units are in an office environment, and the fans cycling is quite noticeable.

Hi,

Yes, fan behavior has changed over time by model/unit and firmware version. Here is what we have on that topic but unfortunately, fan behavior is not something the user access to change -> Smart-UPS fan operation parameters | FAQs | Schneider Electric US. The fan, if it were loud because it is dirty, could be cleaned with compressed air. If there is a problem with a bearing and it is getting loud, fans are not technically user serviceable but if you wanted to at your own risk, there may be some instructions online somewhere to replace them at your own risk if that were the problem and you don't think the noise is normal (and is just plain ol' loud because it is a quiet location).
