RBC44/APCRBC140

Are the replacement cartridges interchangeable?  What are the differences (dimensionally, electrically, VA capacity, install preventative tabs, etc)?

Thanks

Hi Mark,

SRT models (replacement for SURT) has better battery management and I think the battery packs are automatically detected now by those UPS models.

Yes, you can plug them in. I found this documented:

Can we swap RBC44 and APCRBC140 for troubleshooting purposes?
You can turn the [SRT] UPS on without batteries, so we won’t have as much need for this as we did with SURT. An RBC44 will be recognized, but covers and bezels will not fit.

So, I think if you can get the batteries connected with the connector somehow, you could use the RBC44 to test.

Hi Mark,

We have some FAQs on this topic:

http://www.apc.com/support/index?page=content&country=ITB〈=en&locale=en_US&id=FA242324

The batteries, runtime, capacity, etc themselves are the same but the covers and bezels won't fit from the older RBC44 into the newer UPSs.

Thanks as always.  Is there any differences in functionality, i.e. better battery temperature monitoring, battery fusing, cage safety, etc?

And finally, are the brown Andersons compatible and can the older RBC44's actually fit into the newer SRT UPSs compartments (by simply leaving the bezels off)?

I'm asking since any testing that I do requires a good battery pack - trying to minimize the ones that I need.

Mark
