I have recently setup PCNS for vSphere by following the setup guide online.
I have added my ESXI servers to the VMA using the "vifp" command.
They are all listed in there and have them listed when i do the "list servers" command.
My question is, in the event of a powercut does PCNS shutdown the VM`s within the ESXI host before shutting down the ESXI host? or just the ESXI host?
Regards

What versions of VMware ESXi and VMA running? Also what is the model of the Smart-UPS and the model and firmware revision of the UPS network card?

Hi,
I recommend you upgrade to vMA 6.0 or vMA 5.1 with update 3 and install PCNS version 4.1 on the vMA. As with all versions of PCNS with VMware the ESXi host must be fully licensed. PCNS is not able to communicate with a host running the free license of ESXi and it is not support.
You will find installation instructions at this link http://www.apcmedia.com/salestools/PMAR-9HBK44/PMAR-9HBK44_R3_EN.pdf?sdirect=true
You will fined information on configuring PCNS with VMware in the User's Guide http://www.apcmedia.com/salestools/PMAR-9DNLQK/PMAR-9DNLQK_R2_EN.pdf?sdirect=true

Hi,
My mistake, In fact I have vma 6.0 and PCNS version 4.1 installed.
By default is it configured to shutdown VM`s first before shutting down the host?

HI,
If you select shutdown VMs in the PCNS UI then yes the VMs are shutdown first and then the host. A full description of the shutdown process is discussed in the User's Guide starting on page 70.
