Getting a small server to work with a CS 650 natively:
The server here has a CS 650, with Personal Edition.
Tried the Business Edition: want to configure the software so the computer hibernates instead of shutting-down.
Business Edition says the CS 650 isn't supported.
Tried to get the Windows XP UPS service configured, can't find any docs on it (yes, I tried 'Google Search').
It wants a COM port, COM1, COM2, or COM3, and the CS 650 is connected via a USB cable.
Seems to be more of a network/server oriented question that people more regularly accessing this thread would be able to answer.
'Home' users are likely to be satisfied with the 'APC Personal Edition' software.

What is an upgrade path?:
The other question is on europe, most (computer) power supplies have a PFC unit. For instance the mini-server here has an LC Green Giant ~450 watt. Without laughing too much - people say this is cheap, however almost all the best local OEM's use the brand with a standard build. Even the non-green LC 550 watt picked up recently for someone else is 82% efficient. I'm concerned about what a poster said about how the CS 650 puts out a modified sine wave instead of a true sine wave. I had a Pro-sine (xantrex now owns it, which I guess is the same ppl as APC) pure sine-wave inverter, was xxx times that of a cheap one 'rated' at the same wattage with a square-wave output, as I found out the electronics-destroying effects of square-wave. A guy with a Trace or Heart modified sine-wave seemed to be okay with it, though he was asking how to run his electronics on it; a response was to try the line conditioner from APC.
So what do you think about using the Smart-UPS (or similar, whatever they are called now) APC unit as a replacement for the CS 650? I've used this CS 650 now for just over three years, and would trade it up or sell it and get the Smart-UPS (later on), if this was strongly indicated by your responses.
