I currently use backup BR 800BLKQ for personal use. This is my second backup unit so I have been with APC for a number of years. Everything seems to be working fine, but I have come across a CD for Power Chute Personal Edition software. I use this with an Imac running El Capitan, the version given on the CD is 1.3.4 for Mac OS X 10.4. My question is that I don't find this software in my applications file. Should this software be in the applications folder? Do I still need this CD?
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hi,
As I said earlier PowerChute in not compatible with that OS and not supported. You should uninstall PowerChute and then reboot the system. At that point the UPS settings should be available in Energy Saver. If the setting are still not available check the USB connection to verify the system is communicating with the UPS. The UPS is designed to be Plug and Play i.e. recognized once connected.

Hi Bill:
I went to the site and got the instructions for the Energy Saver/UPS option, but unfortunately I am using El Capitan version 10.11.6. Do you know if there are any instructions for this version?
Thank you so much for your help!

Hi,
I do not have 10.11.6 to test with but do have 10.11.5 and that version works as noted in the Knowledge Base document starting on page 9.

Hi Bill:
Geez, I think this is getting over my head! 🙂 I went to page 9. My problem is that when I go to preferences/energy saver - I see the computer sleep and display sleep, but not the power/ups option.
In checking the system preferences I have Power Chute listed in the very bottom row. What am I doing wrong????
