Hello all! New here...
Question
Smart UPS 750... Constant getting message of the following
The battery power is too low to support the load; if power fails, the UPS will be shut down immediately. |
The batteries were changed a few months ago and again yesterday.. a self test was done as well and passed just fine.... The message is still there..
Within Data Center Expert when you look at device sensors, it says battery age is - 8 days ( what does that mean????)
We actually have a handful of UPS, that have this same error message above... When you are onsite and looking directly at the UPS, it is all green there is no issues but when you get in to the NMC or Data center expert you see it...
Has anyone dealt with this or have ideas on how to resolve this error message? the UPS itself is 3 years old...
Thanks in advance!!!

Hi @bpdfs
Will you be able to provide the model number of your UPS and the first six characters of the serial number?
May I please know the reason why the batteries were replaced, what error message were you getting before?
On the sensor 8 screenshot, it shows that the runtime left is at 19 minutes, what is the low battery shutdown set on the NMC?
I have provided the FAQ articles below to assist you with the procedures that you can do such as manual calibration and brain-dead.

Will you be able to DM the case number and also provide the screenshot of the NMC @bpdfs ?
If your remaining battery runtime is at 19 minutes and your low battery duration is at 23 minutes, this is the reason why you are getting the alarm. As you can see, you have set the NMC/UPS that it would send the low battery condition when you only have 23 minutes runtime left and since your runtime remaining is at 19 minutes only which is lower than the low battery hence it tells you that the moment the UPS switches to on battery, it will shut down immediately.
You can set the low battery runtime to a lower value for you to test it, something around 10 minutes, and see if the alarm would disappear.
I suggest that you assess the actual low battery runtime needed to shutdown the servers. Would you happen to know what was the runtime that you previously have?
Please see the FAQ article below to know more about the Low Battery Duration is for.

Hi @bpdfs
From the FAQ article that I have posted above.
Low Battery Duration is an alarm that will trigger shutdown when the UPS runtime remaining falls below the set time. For example, if the Low Battery Duration is set to ten minutes, and the UPS predicted runtime remaining reaches ten minutes or below, a low battery condition is triggered. When the alarm is triggered the network card will send a signal to each configured PowerChute client and the clients will begin the shutdown process. If the input power is not restored to the UPS, it will turn off when the battery has exhausted.
By default, PowerChute Network Shutdown triggers the graceful shutdown of the computer when the UPS reaches the low battery signal. If you are going to use the low battery signal to turn off the servers, you need to make sure that the low battery duration is enough to shut down the servers.
The default low battery duration is 2 minutes. If you think that the server can shut down within the 2-minute time frame, you can change the Low Battery Duration by going to Configuration > Shutdown > Low Battery Duration.
