Protocol info for SMC1000IC

Hi,

Is there any protocol info for the SMC1000IC?

My company is thinking of buying one of these but we need to know if we can send commands via USB to this UPS.

Thank you for using the SE Community Exchange!

The SMC unit that you have mentioned uses the APC/SE MicroLink UPS protocol which is a proprietary protocol.  You may use the APC PowerChute Business Edition software to communicate with the UPS.

We can go a bit above the price of the SMC1000IC if it allows this option.

As far as I am aware, our SMT/SMX UPS, depending on the firmware loaded can communicate via ModBus USB.  Other than that, I cannot think of any possible solution that we can offer you but let's wait for other members of the community.

As Jon wrote the SMC model UPS uses a proprietary communications protocol (MicroLink) that replaced the older UPSLink protocol. The SMC UPS does offer basic USB connectivity. If you are experienced with programing for USB you will find information on connecting the UPS in this white paper.
