I click to "update the product". It does not do it, but instead I get an errmsg saying it cannot connect via my internet connection and to check it. There is nothing wrong with the connection as you can read this message. Is there a solution? Thank You!

This is a known issue. We will release PowerChute Serial Shutdown to the web in a few days to replace PowerChute Personal Edition. And, yes, PowerChute Serial Shutdown will communicate via USB (Universal Serial Bus).
PowerChute Serial Shutdown is a web application that will replace PowerChute Personal Edition and PowerChute Business Edition. The look and feel are the same if you are familiar with Business Edition.
I have attached a copy of the product brochure: the FAQ document, and a copy of the compatibility chart.
NOTE: This release is for Windows OS only.
