Hey All,
I have an SUA1500RM2U that's been in storage. Just pulled it out to put it in service. Replaced batteries. Plugged it in and I don't get any AC. If I hold down the power button to get it to come on battery, it starts to self test and then fails. The lights on the right side of the faceplate flash.
I hooked up a Powerview from a Symmetra and checked out the stats. It's showing 167V input (which is incorrect). Any way to set it straight?
Brady

It's not under warranty, it's a 2006 unit.
Thanks for trying!

Hi Brady,
I would like to know if those batteries are APC or just compatible replacement batteries. For how long has this been out-of-service? You've mentioned that self-test fails, I would like to know if you are getting a flashing or solid replace battery indicators aside from the battery bar graph that are flashing. Have you checked as well the input voltage being fed into the UPS using a voltmeter?
If you still have the smart signaling serial cable for this UPS and you have a computer with a compatible operating system, we can install PowerChute Business Edition and check out what kind of error or problem the UPS sees/reports.

Hi John,
These happen to be APC batteries.
ALL of the LEDs on the right side of the control panel start flashing simultaneously as the unit fails self test.
The Powerview will also show errors, but it's not showing any. It also won't let me turn the UPS on remotely, as it will with others. We've played with the Powerview quite a bit.

Brady,
Let us perform the brain dead procedure.
To brain dead a Smart-UPS, the load must be turned off and unplugged. Next, the UPS must be turned off and unplugged. Once unplugged, push and hold the off button for 6 to 8 seconds. The sensitivity light in the back of the UPS should go out and there should be a small audible click in the unit.
After doing the brain dead procedure, let us reseat the battery connector on the UPS. Next let us perform the cold start process, doing this the UPS needs to be unplugged from the power source/wall outlet. Press and hold the I/Test button, while holding the button you would hear a short and a long beep and as soon as you hear the long beep release the I/Test button. The cold start procedure forces the UPS to run on battery, observe what will happen to the UPS. Once it is running on battery, plug the UPS back into the power source. If the unit detects a good input source it should go back/switch to Online.

Hmmm...if the above steps didn't help you out, the UPS is probably dead/faulty. Is it possible for you to provide the serial number of the unit? I'll check if this is still within warranty. If you cannot post it here, feel free to send it thru PM.
