Hi,
Since a few days ago in Win 10 I am getting the alert that Powerchute is not communicating with my APC Back UPS 700.
I have a USB cable between both.
I tried:
- unplugging both ends of the cable but that changes nothing.
- using different USB cables
- using different USB ports on the PC
- rebooting windows and the APC (long press on the button)
I then tried to reinstall Powerchute: but when reinstalling I get an error that the powerchute installer does not find APC so it cannot desactivate native windows power management. So I cannot even reinstall PowerChute.
Running Win 10 Creators update and PowerChute Personal Edition 3.0.2. The APC Back UPS 700 is of course turned on with a green LED in the front panel.
Any thoughts as to what I should check?
Blaise

I had done that previously and no, it doesn't see my Back-UPS. The Back-UPS is not seen as a battery in Device Manager either but is listed under "Other Devices".
I know the cable works since I plugged it into my laptop and it was immediately recognized. I'm thinking my Windows installation on my desktop is corrupt.
Thanks,
Gator

Hi,
When you open Device Manager in the Control Panel do you see the UPS as a discovered device? Schneider Electric FAQ FA310907 discusses how to check the drivers.

I have the same issue with the Back-UPS Pro 700.
In my case, there is simply an unknown device listed and no reference to any battery.

Hi,
Please review Schneider Electric FAQ FA283181 "How to verify USB communications between UPS and Windows OS using UsbDeview.exe"
Does UsbDeview discover the device?
