Hi,
I've installed and uninstalled powerchute software (3.0.0.1) a number of times but in the month I've had my UPS XS 1000, I've NEVER been able to get it to run.
Every time I try to open the program I get the following:
Description:
Stopped working
Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: CLR20r3
Problem Signature 01: powerchute.exe
Problem Signature 02: 3.0.0.1
Problem Signature 03: 4e54bfb8
Problem Signature 04: PowerChute
Problem Signature 05: 3.0.0.1
Problem Signature 06: 4e54bfb8
Problem Signature 07: 7b
Problem Signature 08: 2e7
Problem Signature 09: System.TypeInitialization
OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.768.3
Locale ID: 1033
Any ideas?
Thanks,
James

h2. A SOLUTION HAS BEEN FOUND!!!
Apparently all of my issues were related to a FONT.... My Windows7 machine seemed to have "Ariel" and "Ariel Bold", but when Customer support sent me these two fonts, the "Ariel" was different than the one I had installed.
I installed the font and the program works perfectly.
A FONT...
Who would have thought?
Thanks!

Interesting... I'll say problem signature, but not go into the 9 lines when I Post it here. the only punctuation is colons and I eve tried removing them onces. Any idea? Basicall it says the event names i clr20r3 and a list of 'signatures' then it says 'system.typeInitializaion as the 9th problem signature..
I'll post it again below here, but I don't hold out hope:

have you tired completely restarting windows????
if the solutions profived by APC here on this forum don't help or want a quick fix for other applications that misbehave:
I've gotten this a couple times, you may want to add the exception to the Data Execution Prevention in Windows 7:
computer>right click>properties>advanced system settings>system properties>advanced>Data exectution prevention>browse to where you installed powerchute>click on exe file>ok to close all dialogs>see if this helps
I get those same crashes with adobe photoshop all the time.
Here's some background on why this happens.....
Some applications have legacy code, which newer operating systems confuse with malicious code, thus triggers the hardware based Data Execution Prevention because it thinks the legacy code is bad. Your processor stops the code from running, thus triggering this message.
Please see attached screenshot for help!

Sigh...
I followed your instructions to the end, and THEN windows says, "You can't turn off the DEP for that particular program".
Shouldn't the WINDOWS 7 version of this APC software be compatible with Windows 7?
Any other ideas?
Thanks!

did you try turning it off for any of the other apc .exe files???
also uninstall completley, reboot
then install it successfully, do not open the program, reboot,
then try it.

ok, don't shoot the messenger on this solution and how silly it might be but it is at least fixed for those of you that have it.
