Powerchute Test

Cant believe there are not more posts for this, makes me think its not possible.

We have a Smart-UPS VT 30 kVA with about 30 clients (inc 4 x VmWare esx 4.1 hosts) running PCNS 3.0, we carried out a server room powerdown about 2 months ago and the clients acted as expected but we had some trouble with the esx hosts, the services seemed to go down but it didnt shut the box down, at the time we were running PCNS 2.4.

We have just upgraded to PCNS 3.0 and wanted to test them again but this time we are not in a position to shut down our server room.

Is there a way we can test that the powerchute clients will act as they should without actually shutting them down?

we have an enhancement logged for this type of functionality but no, there is not really a test feature. you'd have to maybe configure each client to shutdown based on a temperature violation or something. but it would involve actually simulating a real live power loss or event for the PCNS clients to act upon unfortunately.
