Powerchute Network Shutdown 4.4.3 Virtual Appliance - Refusing connection to web interface

Hi,

I have just installed PCNS 4.4.3 Virtual Appliance on a VMWare ESXi 6.0 host. I configured the initial settings via the console and restarted.  I can ping the PCNS VA IP address but cannot connect to the web interface https://Server IP:6547 to continue configuration.

I am on the same subnet with no firewall in between and when using windows network troubleshooter it reported that the server is running but refused my connection.

I had the same issue with PCNS 4.4.2 and upgraded to 4.4.3 hoping that it was just an issue with the version.

I also have other servers running PCNS 4.4.1 without issue.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Much appreciated!

Hi @BabarMukhtar

Can you tell us what comes up if you use the systemctl status PowerChute command?

Will you be able to check as well if the ports mentioned in the FAQ article below are open on your network/software firewall?

What ports are utilized by PowerChute Network Shutdown and how are they secured?

hi , just found the same problem on my upsva pcns vmware 4.4.2 , no more access via https gui

link provided do not work anymore but on internet i have found to check systemctl status...my PowerChute was not present so i do a sudo systemctl enable PowerChute and then sudo systemctl start Powerchute

in this way service is up and running but again no access to the gui.

i have found another post where i need to make a backup copy of the ini file and then add username and password again in a specific section but again restarting the vm no access to the https and checking again the ini file , username and password still there...i read that these credential for security are deleted after setup is completed.

i don't know what to do , this problem happens for an uknown reason after some years of use.

please let me know

Hi , i came across the same problem , i try the link but goes to a 404 page , then i tried to search on internet and found other article that says to use this command: sudo systemctl enable PowerChute and then sudo systemctl start PowerChute but i have not luck

then i found another article that say to add in the [NetworkmanagementCard] username = and password = to do the reconfig but with no luck

that article say also that username and password will be deleted after a restart of the vm for security reason but are still present.

i'm stuck on what to do to solve the problem that appear with no reason because i use this vm for at least 4 years.

please let me know.

@tradexsrl

If you log into the PowerChute VM as the root user you do not need to enter sudo before the commands. What is the status of the PowerChute service? Run the command systemctl status PowerChtue. Is the status running or stopped?

Another question, when you installed the PowerChute VM did you install it through vCenter Server or directly onto the ESXi host? If you installed directly onto the ESXi host see Schneider Electric FAQ000261450

"How to remove the message “PowerChute Services are disabled due to invalid credentials.” on the PowerChute VM."

You should also review Schneider Electric FAQ000266949 "Using the unlicensed version of PowerChute Network Shutdown 5.1 to protect a Standalone ESXi host." Assuming you are not utilizing vCenter Server.

And you should review Schneider Electric FA159758 "How to reset the PowerChute Network Shutdown password and username."

First of all just to mention this vm was installed in 2019 and redo from skratch in 2023 for an upgrade and up to now i was able to login into https gui.

If i sent the systemctl i see this

tradexsrl_0-1719320144363.png

when yesterday i sent the above command i see an error that says it is not a registered service.....very strange so i sent systemctl enable PowerChute and then systemctl start Powerchute

we install it through vcenter server

i read the FAQ provided but these are not my case because i'm not able at all to see the https gui....when i open firefox or chrome and type https://192.168.10.146:6547 or https://192.168.10.146:6547/login but i get this:

If i login into the vm and i run systemctl status PowerChute i got this:

tradexsrl_0-1719326777222.png

powerchute vm was installed through vcenter server appliance

i read the FAQ provided but is not my case because this was built in 2019 and in 2023 was rebuild from skratch for upgrade and the access to the https GUI it works up to now.

if i try to open the web gui with firefox or chrome i get this:

tradexsrl_1-1719326938497.png

maybe the webserver is not working ? but i don't know how to check it

i don't know what else to check...

hi , if i log into the vm and send that command i see that is up and running.

i read the FAQ provided but these are not my case , this vm was installed with vcenter server appliance in 2019 and in 2023 was rebuild from scratch to upgrade to 4.4.2 and i was able up to know to access the https GUI

what can i check ? how can i check if the webserver is down ? maybe could be a problem of the ssl certificate contained in the vm ?
