Powerchute Business Edition using short (8+3) filenames - causes firewall issues
I noticed when I installed Powerchute Business Edition that it uses Windows short (8+3) filenames. These values are stored in the registry. This seems harmless, but it caused my Comodo firewall to constantly re-ask me for permission to let pbeagent.exe connect to the internet. After manually going through the registry and replacing the APC-introduced short filenames with normal long filenames, the problem went away. Why is APC using 8+3 filenames for software installation?
