Powerchute 3.0.1 and ESXi 5.1 HA Cluster : shutdownvms.sh questions

Good day,

1st, thak you for providing this forumn. 2nd I am a newebee and sorry if I offend anyone up front and this is not how to post or use this thread.

I am trying to edit this shutdownvms.sh and wish to know the following;

1. Does anyone of the paramters listed or documented?  I am speficially looking for the user and pwd parameter:

• for i in `vmware-cmd -l --username xxxxx --password xxxxx`;

• in the above line whereby --username xxxxx --password xxxx, can someone tell me if I manually add the username and pwd and if so? to what? the vMa, the PowerChute Network Admin etc..

2. I have different esx 5.1i root passwords, how can I adjust for this inside of the script?

3.  The following line:  ups_vm="vSphere Management Assistant \(PW-LABVMAXAS\)" is this correct or should it be =  ups_vm="PW-LABVMAXAS"

Sam,

You do not need to enter user names and passwords. PCNS 3.0.1 uses VIFPTARGET/vMATarget functionality provided by the vMA to store the ESXi host credentials. PCNS retrieves the credentials when connecting to the host to shut it down using the RCLI/Perl SDK. These credentials are actually stored in an XML file on the vMA. When you add a target host using the vifp addserver command a new accounts is created. We use the same file / grab the same info when running shutdownvms.sh

For question 3 you should enter ups_vm="PW-LABVMAXAS"
