I got an APC SMT1500 from a friend. I have a USB cable connecting the UPS to the PC and when I plug it in Windows recognizes it and it shows the UPS in the device manager. The UPS works fine but when I try installing the PowerChute Personal Edition 3.0.2 software a message pops up and says 'The installer is unable to locate the battery backup connected to your computer'. So my computer sees it but the PowerChute software doesn't. I also tried the APC Data Cable USB to RJ45 connector (no inline choke on the cable) off of my wife's computer (it has an smaller APC UPS running PowerChute) and that cable did not work either (also using that cable it doesn't show up in my device manager). Running Windows 10 Pro 64bit.
So is my APC SMT1500 supposed to work with the PowerChute Personal Edition 3.0.2 software? Or do I need a different kind of data cable?
Thanks for the help!

Hi,
The SMT1500 is not compatible withPowerChute Personal Edition. The SMT1500 is compatible withPowerChute Business Edition. You can download the free 5 node version 9.2.1 from this link http://www.schneider-electric.us/en/faqs/FA304446/
