I just pulled out a dead UPS and installed another. I start the server up, open up the APC software and it won't see the replacement UPS.
This is not rocket science but this poorly designed software makes it maddening to try to work with. Last time I went around in circles trying to figure this out and finally, the only way that I could get it to recognize the UPS was to completely remove the software and reinstall. What a complete waste of my time.
So, tell me how to resolve this the 'easy and correct way'

Do you know the exact SKUs from the rear of the UPSs? We have many varieties of "Smart UPS 750" and "Smart UPS 1000" so I can't tell from that reference. Anyway, let us know what happens after an uninstall/reinstall.

We need to know what model UPS you had and what you're moving to please. The exact SKUs would be helpful.
Also, are we discussing PowerChute Personal or Business Edition, or Network Shutdown. I'll assume Business Edition for my next statement,
If you're going from an older Smart UPS to a new Smart UPS, you may need to re-install (and please don't shoot the messenger - I don't agree with it either.). The older UPSs and newer UPSs sometimes use a different communication type internally so when they do, it requires a re-install because of the way the software is designed.
That is my guess - it could be something different.
If you don't like the software, Native OS support may also be an option for you depending on what you need or want.
