Hello,
Environment: PowerChute Virtual Appliance 4.0
I receive the following notice on the PCNS4.0 host protection screen "PowerChute cannot locate the powerchute VM ". I have seen forum posts regarding powerchute not locating the vCenter Server VM, but not itself. The vCenter posts indicate a DNS issue. Any recommendations?
I am unsure if this is related but on the same Host protection screen, the Powerchute VM is not identified to be on the correct host. The host that PCNS believes it to be on is not accurate. It may have been the host at one point prior to migrating to a different host. If not related to the above, is there a way to reset/clear the old state?

Hi,
Open vSphere Client, select the PCNS Appliance and click on the summary tab. Does it list the proper host the Appliance is running on? If it does not you should power cycle the VM. If it does you should log into the VM and stop the restart PCNS daemon. The command is service PowerChute stop the service PowerChute start. If neither of those resolves the issue uninstall the Appliance and reinstall it. Before uninstalling the Appliance if you want to save your configuration you should copy pcnsconfig.ini that is in /opt/APC/PowerChute/group1. You can also save EventLog.txt.
