PowerChute PE no shutdown

i've simulate blackout on my Back-UPS 800VA (BX800CI-MS), using PowerChute Personal Edition 3.0.2 (conect via USB), on Win7 Ultimate 64bit.

disable hybrid sleep and hibernation, setting runtime > keep my computer (shutdown my computer) > 5 min.

nothing happens, only completely blackout without safe system shutdown my computer.

did i miss something or misconfiguration ??

thanks.

hi,

on first test to hibernate, it failed to hibernate though PowerChute hibernate pop-up show, because my windows is locked instead hibernate, so i fix it with the following step :

  • CMD > DISKPART > AUTOMOUNT ENABLE > EXIT > REBOOT

after that :

  • if hibernate on = PowerChute hibernates my computer ;
  • if hibernate off = PowerChute shutdown my computer properly .

and its solved this problem.

thanks.

this article (screenshot attached) came up when i click help icon on runtime menu...

  • on image 1, below "Keep my computer...", it says "Shutdown my computer when the time..."
  • on image 2, point 4, it says "(If hibernation is disabled, shutdown begins.)"
  • on image 3, "Warning: ... automatically shutdown."

this nice feature is the main reason i'm using APC/PowerChute, i dont like to hibernate smile.

thanks.

how to verifiy ?? like this ?? computer + monitor > surge outlets > back-ups .. usb (computer > backups)

yes, the battery successfully run my computer several minutes until blackout completely, without shutdown my computer

and yes again, when install PowerChute, it enables hibernate, but i disable it again (hybrid sleep off, hibernate off), because of what i read, hibernate off = powerchute will shutdown my computer..

thanks, sry for my english

smile

Can you verify that you plugged your computer into the Battery Back UP + Surge outlets and not just surge only outlets?

Does the UPS run on battery successfully for several minutes and your computer stays running or is the problem as soon as the UPS switches to battery, the computer turns off?

When you install PowerChute, I believe it enables hibernation - you say you disabled it?

When you disable hibernation does PowerChute record the power outage? Also, how much runtime does PowerChute report is available?

Hi,

From the command prompt enable hibernation. The command is  powercfg.exe /hibernate on. Test PowerChute to be sure the system shuts down / hibernates. After the test you can disable hibernation from the command prompt (powercfg.exe /hibernate off) and then test PowerChute to verify the system powers down.
