Hi,
I have a Smart-UPS 3000 XLM and I am trying to add it to PowerChute Network.
I sniffed the traffic with WireShark, and I can see PowerChute adding itself to the UPS, and then I see the UDP broadcasts from the UPS.
I sniffed on the same interface that PowerChute is supposed to be bound on. The firewall is disabled on this server.

Yes. If the NICs are not configured but active it could cause an issue. You should disable the NIC or configure them.
Another thing to verify is be sure the server and NMC are using the same subnet mask Example: 255.255.255.0

Hi,
What are the network setting on the server and on the NMC? PCNS will listen for the UDP packet IP xxx.xxx.xxx.255. NMC wil broadcast to the local network segment. If the server is on a different segment the NMC will send a unicast message.
Another question is does the server have multiple NIC? If so and if one is not configured the packets many not get through to PCNS.

Hi Bill,
Both devices are in the same subnet
The server does have multiple NICs, but I made sure to select the one in the NMC subnet in the wizard.
There is some NICs on the server that are not in use or even configured. Is this the problem?

Yep, that was it.
I feel this should be indicated clearly during install or configuration.
little extra, any idea why i'm not able to update the nmc firmware? Trying from the same server.

Hi,
What version of firmware are to updating to? The latest we have released for a Smart-UPS is 6.7. 2.
Also, can you ftp to the card from the server? If you can ftp to the card and the utility is not working follow the instruction in Schneider Electric FAQ FA156047 and ftp the files to the card.

Welp... Weirdly, after adding it to PowerChute (and disabling the unused NIC), the update went perfectly....
I tried before to access it via FTP and SFTP, without luck. Case solved. Thank you for your help.
