Hi.
I have 3 APC Smart UPS RC 3000 without Ethernet adapter. Only serial cable connected to different Windows 2003 and 2008 servers. PowerChute Bussines Edition.
If i right click the host under Hostname list, then Properties... Apears Device Properties windows for that host UPS.
Then i click the + Server Shutdown (left side list) and Shutdown Sequence.
After that i click Configure Shutdown Sequence (the blue link in the right panel under the list).
Mark Command File box and press Next button.
Select the default.cmd, that i have edited with my script content that works OK. (pressed Test button). After that i press Next.
And here it comes the problem: I can t figure out how to put FIRST the command to run the command BEFORE the system shutdown. It's impossible. I can' t understand how the programmer think that you can run a .cmd script IF THE SYSTEM IS ALREADY SHUTTING DOWN!!! The cmd shoud run in FIRST place, the system shut down in SECOND!
¿Can you explain to me how to revert the order?
Cheers!

Hi,
Changes were made to versions that work with Microlink Smart-UPS i.e. SMT, SMX, SRT, SMC that allows for a greater number.

Hi,
PowerChute is written to run the command file prior to the OS shutdown. I pulled the information below from the help file that explains how to adjust the delays and duration. The delay is the time PowerChute will wait before running the command or starting the shutdown. The duration is the amount of time that it will take to execute. Example if you set a delay of 2 minutes and a duration of 3 minute to run a command file PowerChute will wait 2 minutes after an event and then run the command file. IT will then wait 3 minutes before starting the OS shutdown.
Shutdown Sequence
When a shutdown commences, the following occurs:
- After its configured delay time, any specified command file is executed.
After their individually configured delay times, any selected applications are shut down.
- After its configured delay time, the OS begins to shut down.
- After the time for shutting down the OS expires, the UPS continues its countdown before turning itself off.

Configure Shutdown Sequence
Clicking on the Configure Shutdown Sequence underlined text in the Shutdown Sequence dialog box starts a wizard. The wizard enables you to specify command files and set times for their execution and to specify any installed applications to shut down.
You can also set OS shutdown delay and duration times.
At the first dialog box, you can select from among those applications installed on your system.
In the next dialog box, you can select one command file to be run prior to a shutdown.
If you have selected the Siebel application, the following two dialog boxes ask for a logon user name and password and also the path to the Enterprise and Gateway servers.
The next dialog box in the wizard enables you to set the time delays and durations to be used during a shutdown.
How to Set the Delay and Duration Times
You can configure delay and duration times for individual command files, and application or OS shutdowns. Each horizontal line in the graph is labeled on the left, for example, Command File, Siebel, SQL, OS.
Note: The scale of this diagram varies according to the runtime of your UPS. For example, if runtim...

Hi Bill
Thank you for all of the support you give to us here at apc forums
In the post above you indicated that "Note: The scale of this diagram varies according to the runtime of your UPS. For example, if runtime is low you can’t set long delay or duration times."
In my environment i can not set the delay value from the console for running the command file past 52 min even though i have 116 min

Hi,
The maximum allowable number is 60 minutes. The default OS duration is 3 minutes so the delay can be 57 minutes. The maximum allowable number for command files is 57 (56 for delay 1 minute duration) when the OS delay is set for 57 minutes and the OS duration is 3 minutes. If you push to the limits OS delay can be set for 60 minutes with a 20 second duration and command file delay can be set for 59 minutes with a 1 minute duration. However the OS delay will get set to zero and the duration will be set to 20 seconds.
If you want to keep the OS delay at 47 minutes then the command file delay and duration must not be greater that 47 minutes.

Hi Bill
Thanks for replying
So why is there a 60 min maximum time limit? I think it is a flaw because if you have 112 min of run time then you should be able to schedule the shutdown just before the runtime limit is reached. So in my case the ups will be just under 50% drained when the shutdown sequence is initiated.
