PowerChute Business Edition Installation Options

Can I install PowerChute on my laptop and connect to all of the UPS's on my network (not necessarily all at once!)?

We have a mix of serial and USB connectivity on the UPS's.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

You cannot communicate with multiple UPS using the same PowerChute Agent. To communicate with different UPS you will need to stop the apcpbeagent service, connect the cable to the new UPS, then restart the service. NOTE: This will only work if the UPSs are of the same family. If the UPS are SMT, SMX, SRT, SURTD, SMC those will all work with the same PowerChute Agent. If the UPS are SU, SUA, SURT, SURTA those will all work with the same PowerChtue Agent. You cannot switch between a SUA and SMT and have communications work. In that scenario you need to uninstall and reinstall the Agent.

The way PowerChute Business Edition works is, the Agent is responsible for communications with the UPS. The PowerChute Server is responsible for gathering information from the Agents and the PowerChute Console is the GUI. You can us the PowerChute Server to view multiple Agent but each Agent needs to be dedicated to a single system.

Are all of the UPS connected to systems that are running PowerChute Business Edition Agent? If so then yes. You can connect to the Agent over the network by entering https://:6547 Example https://192.168.1.10:6547

I want to be able to manage all UPS's from a single server.

I've installed the PCBE server, agent and console on the candidate management server and plugged two of our three of the UPS's into this server via USB. When launching the console, I can only see one of the UPS's plugged into the management server.

How do I get it to display both of them?
