PowerChute 9.0 questions about shutting down

Hello,
I'm still fairly new to the PowerChute software and understanding how the PowerChute software works to shutdown servers during a power outage, and then bring them back up.

I have a few questions but I'll ask this one first, then follow up.

Shutdown Sequence
I have this set to "Operating System" with a Delay of 7 minutes and a Duration of 5 minutes.
I'm running Server 2008 R2.
So this basically means when power is lost it (UPS) will sit there for 7 minutes on battery (waiting for power to restore). Once that 7 minute mark is hit (still no power) a shutdown command will be sent to the Operating System (is this just a normal Windows shutdown command?). It (UPS) will then wait for the O/S to shutdown and then after 5 minutes shut itself off? So basically 12 minutes of run time needed on battery?

I was able to free up a UPS and test this, seems to work as stated. I did have other questions, but I think I'll wait as things are starting to come together.

i think thats correct based on what i know but maybe someone else can confirm. if the power were to come back after that shutdown was initiated, this process would not stop and would still need to complete (which includes an automated reboot of the UPS at the end) and then your load would turn back on. if you were to try and push the power button on your server, then it would start to shut down again.

someone please confirm or deny this for us 🙂
