Hi everyone,
I now have a system, that during bench testing, pulls over 800 watts. My current power supply is a PC p&c 1200.
My UPS is a APC Smart UPS 1000XL (1000v & 800 watts), I also have a XL24V Battery Pack hooked up to it.
My question is do I need to buy a whole new UPS unit that has a higher wattage ratting? Or...
Does the extra XL24V Battery Pack add enough extra power for me to run my computer off of?
I'm thinking your gonna tell me I need a new one, I hope not! Can't afford it right now!
Thanks for your time!
Don

The battery pack you have added does not actually add any wattage capacity to the UPS, it just connects another battery in parallel to the DC bus of the UPS system to allow for more total batt. capacity, amp-hour rating, however you like to think of it, which increases your run-time only. Getting a new UPS system is up to you...at APC we recommend that customers do not exceed 75-85% of the UPS load so that you get the most of your UPS runtime, and also so that you don't inadvertently overload the UPS. If you are comfortable with maxing out the UPS and are sure it will not exceed 800w, then feel free to continue using the UPS.
