Hi,
External CAN Bus:
The External CAN Bus is the communication between the MIM/RIM and any XR Battery Frames. Any Battery Monitor Boards in the XR’s would also be on this bus.
The first step in troubleshooting this problem would be to verify proper XR communication cabling. Make sure that there are two terminators installed in the circuit. The first and last ports in the chain should have a terminator (one in the UPS, one in the last XR cabinet)
In the event that there is no XR frame present, both ports on the UPS XR Comm card should be terminated.
The units are shipped with one terminator installed and a CAT5 cable connected to the second port on the XR Comm Card. Replace the cable with a terminator if no XR is present.
If all cabling is correct then you must attempt to determine which card is the cause of the alarm.
This could be the XR com card in the UPS or one of the battery cabinets, or any BMB’s in the Battery cabinets (it would not however be the BMB’s in the main UPS – that is on the internal can bus).
I also recommend you contact local support. Local support will be knowledgeable about you specific unit and any local requirements.
