I just replaced the battery in my BackUPS Pro 350U at a remote location and installed the latest version PowerChute Personal Edition for Windows 7. When I query the UPS via the PCPE interface, I get a momentary report that my backup device is operating normally and then it says "Managed PC shutdown not provided" .... also the Estimated Battery Time is blank. What is wrong? (I uninstalled/re-installed the s/w and swapped the USB cable to several other USB ports on my PC, but no help). I need help quick because I have to return home 1500 miles away soon. Had to travel here recently due to UPS battery failure.
Note: I have a BackUPS XS1300 LCD at another location and the PCPE works great... lot of useful info, so I know what it should look like.
Edit: I disconnected my UPS from the wall outlet and all it did was beep to let me know my PC was on battery, and after 8 minutes I plugged it back in the wall outlet.
The PCPE interface confirmed the transfer to battery power, but no shutdown occured. This being the case, obviously in case of an extended power outage, the PC will drain the battery and then do a hard shutdown, in spite of the fact that I have selected 1 minute Runtime in the "Preserve battery power" configuration option.
Just what good is this software?

Found the answer to the second part of my issue: The BIOS power configuration was set to "Power Off" on shutdown. I set it to "Last State".
I think the answer to my first part is Cyberpower.
