Hello Dennis,
I would like to gather some more information from you to provide you assistance. Could you please let us know the exact Model and Serial number of the UPS? You can find these details on a white bar code sticker at the rear of the unit. What are the equipment you have attached to the battery backup outlets? What is the power consumption of each equipment? Are you saying that the Computer is not able to resume from Sleep Mode? When do you see the loss of communication message from the PCPE software? Have you tried installing the PCPE patch which can be downloaded from APC site?

This points to a version for Vista, and although I tried this version on the RC, I found it was only really compatible using Vista SP2 compatibility mode.
Will there be a specific version for Windows 7?
I am using the native power setting in windows 7, and it work fine, so I see not particular need for this utility anymore, other than it shows you the battery status.

Bill,
Could you please let me know the exact Model and Serial number of the UPS? You can find these details on a white bar code sticker at the rear of the unit. What is the indication of the front LED when you receive this battery disconnect message from the Power Chute?

Keith,
It appears that the batteries are not connected to the UPS. Did you connect the batteries to the UPS as instructed in the UPS user manual prior to using it?
Click here to download the BX1300LCD UPS user manual.
Please let us know if you are facing the same issue after checking the battery connection.

Hi thanks for the reply.
This UPS has been in service for 2 years under both windows server 2003 and windows vista.
The problem only started happening when I installed Windows 7.
All the same a turned the UPS over and checked the battery bay to make sure the batteries were connected and they were.
One other thing i thought Id mention that is in common with a previous poster is that I am running the windows 64 version of windows 7.
Hope this helps
Thanks
Keith

Keith,
I would like to confirm you that the PCPE version 2.2 does work fine with Windows 7 64 bit. My suspicious is that there is an issue with the UPS circuitry not PCPE. I recommend you to contact the [APC Customer Care Center|http://www.apc.com/support/index.cfm] to get the replacement unit under factory warranty if the issue still persists.

I started having problems with a UPS ES 750 when inactivated nighttime alerts sounded on Vista 32-bit. 64-bit Vista and Win 7 64-bit are worse with nothing seeming to stop the Unable to communicate with UPS 750 or 725 messages on resuming from hibernation. The problem seems to be related to how long the computer has been in "sleep". These systems do not then resume properly with any settings I have found. Any outage also drops the battery time permanently to 18-24 minutes from 60 minutes (estimated?).
