PCNS shutdown for HPE Simplivity Systems

Hi,

before the shutdown of a Simplivity host the Omnistack Virtual Controller VM must gracefully shutdown. I do not know if this is included in the pcns procedure. The other way would be a script which connects via ssh to the OVC and executes an  svt-shutdown-safe. The problem is that on the pcns appliance the ssh client is disabled. 

Is APC PCNS with HPE Simpliivity Systems not supported?

Hi,

PCNS currently supports VMware and Microsoft Hypervisors. The understanding I have is Simplivity is an integration plugin to VMware vCenter Server. Hi,

the problem is that Simplivity Hosts are hyperconverged. The storage is local and is managed by a controller vm. This vm's are called OVC's. Simplivity installs a vSphere webclient plugin which offers the management of this controllers. If you want to shutdown this vm's you don't right click  an choose "Power" and "Shutdown Guest OS" ! It has an own menu which is called "Shutdown Virtual Controller". I think that this will initiate a stop sequence of services inside the vm to guarantee that the datastores will be closed safely.

I apologize. The demos I have seen shows the VMware web interface as the management of the Simplivity hosts and VMs. They appeared to be standard hosts. After further review I was mistaken.

I have checked with Product Management and Simplivity is on the enhancement list for a future release of PCNS.
