PCNS 5 specific advanced configuration not possible?
I'd like to setup an advanced UPS configuration but it's not clear how to do this. I have 3 UPS's. One is a Smart-UPS X 2000 with NMC3 card and the other two are each a Smart-UPS 1500 with NMC2 card.
I have two hosts that I want protected by PCNS. The X2000 is able to power both hosts no problem, but one 1500 may be overloaded if powering both hosts. Each host has two power supplies in a redundant configuration. PS1 is primary and PS2 is redundant, normally in a standby condition and only used if PS1 goes down.
What I'd like to do is use the X2000 to power both host's PS1 supplies. So in nominal conditions, everything is powered by the X2000, using PS1 on each host. Then I'd like to connect PS2 of host A to one 1500 and PS2 of host B to the other 1500. This would provide double-redundancy so that if PS1 of a host goes down, it will automatically switch to PS2 (powered by one of the 1500s) and if the X2000 goes down, both hosts will switch to PS2, host A powered by the 1500-A UPS and host B powered by 1500-B UPS.
I think this would be theoretically possible to setup if I could create two UPS groups - one with the X2000 and 1500-A and the other group with the X2000 and 1500-B. The problem is the setup wizard doesn't allow me to add the X2000 UPS to more than one group.
Is there any way to do this configuration I've described?
