Hello,
I've PCNS setup in a VMware Cluster and everything is working properly and the hosts are shown as protected. However, when I add a new host into the same cluster, the new host is not protected and I am not able to select to host and move it over into the protection area.
I've tried to reboot the host, reboot the PCNS appliance but still having the same issue.
What is the best way to have this new host added or protected without having to reinstall the PCNS appliance?
Thanks,
Ken

Hi,
Stop the PowerChute daemon /etc/init.d/PowerChute stop
Then open pcnsconfig.ini that is in /opt/APC/PowerChute/group1 with a text editor and add the new systems ip address to hostlist = 192.168.1.10|192.168.1.11|192.168.1.12 hostlist = is found under [HostConfigSettings]
After adding the ip address restart the daemon /etc/init.d/PowerChute start
You should then see the new server in the UI.

Hi,
1- Where is PowerChute running? On Windows, Appliance, or vMA
2- Where is vCenter server running? On Windows, Windows VM, or Appliance
3- Is the host displayed in the PowerChute web UI?
4- Have you rerun the PowerChute Setup wizard for the UI?

1. PowerChute is an appliance running VMware
2. vCenter is an appliance running on the same cluster as the PCNS appliance
3. The hosts are displayed in the PCNS UI but not able to add into the the "Protection" host area
4. I've re-run the wizard but that status didn't change.
The last time this happened, I had to re-setup and brand new PCNS appliance. There has to be a better way!
Thanks,

Hi Bill,
That works perfectly! Thanks so much for your help. That was a lot easier than having to setup to brand new appliance.
Thanks again.
