Hi,
I'm running PCBE 7.0.5 Agent and Server on a machine attached to an SUA3000RM. Last night we had a power failure. Everything ran correctly and was shut down automatically before the UPS ran out of juice, but when power was restored the PCBE agent didn't restart itself.
In the agent web interface I have "Enable OS Reboot" enabled, with a UPS turn on delay of 5 minutes, which is intentional.
Any ideas please? Unfortunately I cannot do any test runs on this as it's the PDC, but I would like to prevent the situation from reoccurring if possible.
Thanks
Rob

unfortunately, in any APC UPS configuration, no matter what it is - in a scenario where there is a power outage - so the UPS goes to battery - and then it is on long enough to have the server shut down - if the power comes back on before the UPS has gone to sleep or rebooted, the server will need to be turned back on manually. this is because the UPS hasnt rebooted and the server has seen either power from the UPS or utility at the same time.
essentially - if the power goes out, UPS goes to battery, server shuts down but power comes back on before the UPS turns off, any client will need to be turned back on manually since the UPS hasnt been rebooted.
if you reboot the UPS, the BIOS setting on the computer would need to be set correctly though if you reboot the UPS to tell everything to power up, rather than pushing the on/off button on each device.
is that what happened?

when you say the PCBE agent/server didnt restart itself - did you mean the machine that the software is installed on didnt restart?
if so - please refer to [this article linked here|http://nam-en.apc.com/cgi-bin/nam_en.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=1003]
this goes over what you need to do to get a machine to reboot after power has been restored to the UPS and computer.
let us know if i misunderstood the issue.
hope it helps!

Hi,
Yes I did mean the machine that PCBE is installed to.
The article suggests only that I change the state after fail setting to "last state". If the machine shut itself down before power failed, it wouldn't restart when power was restored whether this option was selected or not.
Any more ideas?
Thanks

What is shutdown type you defined in PCBE? Is it shutdown or shutdown and off?
Did you try to use "always on" as power option of your Bios?
