Hi,
I just bought a SUA1500 and have it directly connected via USB to a Vista SP1 x64 machine. It comes with PCBE Basic. My first question is do I need to install the Agent, Server and Console if I want to manage my UPS from my Vista machine? What is the bare minimum I can get away with? 🙂
Also, I noticed there is a newer version of the Agent (8.0) on the APC website. Do I need to install this or should I just stick to the CD?
Thank you.

i usually see that when there is a problem with java. make sure you have java installed and its up to date - powerchute requires it.

you can just stick to the CD. PCBE on the disc comes with the agent, server, and console which in version 8, you now need to pay for.
to monitor this one machine, just install the agent portion of the software. the server and console come in handy when you have more than one device to monitor.
after you install the agent, you can access it via a web browser on http://127.0.0.1:3052 if you are local or http://

Hi. After installing all three (e.g., Server, Client, Agent) I accessed the Agent, via the below URL, and received an ActiveX control warning stating that the control was unsigned. No surprise. So I disabled the option in IE that blocks the installation of unsigned ActiveX controls and installed the control. However, when I try and log in, using the correct user name and password, I receive an error. Unfortunately it is the generic "there is an error on on this page" error indicator that IE uses. Any ideas?
If I can get away with just using the Agent that would be great.
Thank you.
