Using PowerCute Bus Ed 25 node sw, with web interface to configure settings. The UPS Configuration > General Settings has a parameter "Number of Connected Battery Packs" that is currently set to 1. I have just added an external battery so I assume 1 is the correct setting and it does not count the internal battery, correct?

what UPS model is it? some UPS models count their internal battery packs as 1 and some do not. in some UPSs the battery packs are intelligent and others aren't. basically, it depends on the model and then we can give you an answer.
