I have a SMART-UPS RT 2200VA RM with a couple of managed switches plugged into it and some SonicPoints (wireless access point) power injectors as well.
None of the load indicator lights are on,so I'd like to know if these lights are working.
If I do the manual test will these indicators light if they are still working, or will the test only tell me about the battery itself?

The bottom-most LED on your ups will light up when you get to 17 % load....( approx 475 watts). You could try plugging in a small space heater (1000 watts or so), that should light up at least two of the LED's, possibly three. The LED's represent , from bottom to top, 17% / 33% / 50% / 67% / 85 % load.

Great suggestion to try a small space heater. That did the trick; all the load indicator lights came on initially then fewer as the heater kicked in and I reduced the heater settings. Thanks!

Possibly the load that the few items you have plugged in are not enough to cause the lights to illuminate. As an example, I have a SU2200 that I am looking at right now and the load of this computer and monitor are not enough to keep any of the load LEDs illuminated. The lower one just illuminates from time to time as the tripping point gets crossed.
To test the lights, I'd plug a 100 or 200 watt incandescent lamp into the UPS and see if the load increases to the point where one of the lights will illuminate. Take care and good luck!

Another way for you to test if the front LEDs lights up is by doing an alarm test. If you have PowerChute Business Edition or a Network Management Card installed, you can use these two and run an alarm test. The alarm test would make the UPS beep and the LEDs to flash once.
