Hi guys,
I have 2 UPS's on my network at home and for some reason when my new W8 laptop is powered up I'm getting alerts saying it's trying to SNMP into them.
Is this typical behaviour for windows 8? (I have not configured any SNMP probes or anything on the laptop it's very much still as it came out of the box) or would it be easier just to stop the UPS's from emailing alerts on SNMP attacks or disabling SNMP agents on the network cards? (I don't actively use SNMP at home, I've only got a server a firewall a switch and a few pc's but I might have configured communities when I playing around with Zenoss)

Unfortunately, I do not have a Windows 8 machine to test it. Let us wait for some inputs from other users.

If you are not using SNMP, I suggest that you disable the SNMP v1 and v3 access on your network management card. If you are using SNMP on your UPS, I suggest that you take a look on your Windows 8 PC and look for the SNMP service and disable it.

Thanks, I will look at shutting SNMP off on the cards, I get email sent to my phone of any problems and if was to lose my main UPS the SNMP trap won't do much good as my server's powered from it
I'll also have a look at the windows 8 machine but does windows probe the local lan on SNMP by default now?
Has anyone else had this behaviour I wonder.
