Hello all, pls forgive me if the question sounds stupid - but Im new to this with a PC.
My situation is as follows.
In my office room in 1st floor I have a Mac Laptop and a Windows 7 laptop - plugged to a APC Back-UPS 800
Unfortunately I now have to move my QNAP TS-453A to the basement as I connect it to my TV - and the 20m HDMI cable doesnt support me with sound. đ
So now I need the powerchute software running on my PC to signal the QNAP NAS in case of a power outage to shutdown.
My NAS has a fixed IP - so what would be the best way to do this ?

Hi,
Read this section of the APCUPSD User's Guide NIS Server/Client Configuration Using the Net Driver for assistance with powering down 2 or more computers.
To power down the NAS you will need to write a script. You may find information on how to remotely power down the NAS from the manufactures web site or they may have a forum or User's Group that could help.

Hi,
We do not officially support running command files with PowerChute Personal Edition however there is a forum post that explains how to do so.
If you're not comfortable scripting PowerChute Personal Edition you could try APCUPSD. APCUPSD allow for the running of command files / scripts prior to shutdown and will run on the Windows and Mac systems.

Thanks for the info.
Maybe someone checks the APCUPSD Website from time to time as it gives only this:

Ok got it now and installed on my Macbook. Good thing is I now have a small monitor for the UPS.
But is there any information on how to setup this thing?
I mean all I need is to signal 1 Win7 Laptop and 1 QNAP NAS to shutdown on loss of power.
But in the manual I didnt really find how to do that.
