Good day to you.
Please I'd appreciate any help with he following situation;
We have a Smart UPS 2200i with network management card installed.
We are trying to shutdown few servers using power chute network shutdown
All servers are members of a domain.
What happens in our tests is the following;
The application on the server shows in its log that the condition is true [on battery for example] and after that it shows that windows will shutdown soon.
Nothing happens after that no matter how long we wait.
Windows event viewer shows nothing related to any shutdown process starting or even trying to happen in either "Application" or "System' logs.
What can we do to solve this?
Thanks a lot in advance.

Hello,
Does this happen across every system?
Have you tried to re-install one instance of PCNS on one of the machines, and logged into the PCNS Client interface (via port 3052) to ensure that the PCNS event log is in fact taking note of the UPS: On Battery event?

Hello,
1st, thanks for taking the time to help with that problem.
It is happening with every server.
The PCNS log shows that it took notice and even shows that it initiated the shutdown process.
But other than that I can see no where else any trace even of a failed shutdown trial, [like in windows event viewer]
Thanks

Have you tried to elminate as many software applications and services that are running at the time of shutdown to see if there's a conflict of interest? You stated that the software does recognize a shutdown has begun. However, beyond that, only interference with the shutdown would terminate the process.

Hello,
We have been busy trying every single trial we can think of, and out of desperation we went ahead and tried an older version of PCNS software instead of the latest one posted on APC website.
Let me tell you, we are crying right now of happiness, every single server safely shutdown as we tested.
Are we a bit disappointed ? YES of course, let me tell you that, we had a case open with APC support for around 6 weeks with no results because there were similar problems with our previous "Share-UPS" based solution [still open by the way]. and that is why we went the network shutdown way only to face even more problems.
Anyway, thanks "Notorious K.M.P." a lot for trying to help, much appreciated. 🙂
My only hope is that APC support would be as good as their products.
