Need to run files when BN1080G battery levels reach particular levels

Powerchute Personal Edition doesn't run files on the computer it is connected to. Does Powerchute Business Edition work with APC Back-UPS BN1080G? I gave it a try but got an error message. I'll try again tonight, but ran out of time last night.

Here is the back story:

I have two "servers" (an ancient Dell SC1430 and a PC) running Xenserver, each with a single Ubuntu VM running an application that has to be shut down gracefully or it will be corrupted, my Windows 10 desktop and an 8 port network switch on an APC Back-UPS BN1080G. The battery will only last for 6-8 minutes under this load, but that would be plenty for the application as it is not commercial. The 1080G is connected to the desktop via the USB cord. I'm looking for a solution that allows me to install to the desktop for monitoring and acting on events.

I have several .bat files that I want run at particular battery levels or time remaining. Under my plan the first batch file will gracefully shut down one of the applications when 5 minutes are left on the battery, then one minute later the next batch file shuts down the Xenserver host (which will automatically shut down the VM). The batch files for the second server can then run when the remaining battery time reaches 3 minutes the same way as the first. The desktop will shut down last and be handled by Powerchute at one minute.

Great. Can you pass this on a a feature request? It sounds like I have more than enough company to make it worth something to Schneider to add this capability to the personal edition. Unfortunately the number of scripts I have to run and timing involved seem to make the solution using Powerchute not viable. I've already installed the APCUPSD, now I just need to figure out how to configure it to do what I want. Not a big fan of this sort of solution, I prefer a nice dashboard/GUI, but I'll figure it out. Thank you!

Hi,

PowerChute Business Edition is not compatible with the BN1080G. There is a forum post that discusses running a command file with PowerChute Personal Edition. Running a command file with PowerChute Personal Edition is not officially support but the replies to the post indicate the solution does work.

Your other option is to uninstall PowerChute and install APCUPSD. It will communicate with the Back-UPS and run a command file.
