Need a good UPS to alert for a *Extreme Network Summit 250/450 family of switches. We need this out in the production IDF's to alert us if the IDF loses power. this means that I need some recommendation on how I can accomplish this. (if UPS is in switch that is being monitored how can it communicate to me)
*Extreme Nwetorks does it have an uncommon comminucation language ???

Hi frtillman, our UPS's have the abilty to send notifications by one of two methods. The first would be through a serial/usb connections with powerchute business edition software installed on some type of computer/server. The second would be to use a UPS in conjunction with a network management card (which could notify you over a network). Hope this helps.
