Need help to reset/calibrate SUA1500 with all battery charge lights blinking
SmartUPS Model: SUA1500 Serial #: AS0345132330
After replacing the battery the Battery Charge lights all flash. The battery actually provides over an hour of runtime with about a 35% load.
The battery seems to be reporting a reasonable looking percentage, but the "time left" is always zero. I have tried self tests and full charge/discharge cycles with no change. It looks like I need to reset a "battery constant" but everything tells me that I have to askAPC for help in how to do that. One website says "The good news is that if you are located in the USA, all you have to do is contact APC Technical Support and they will send you a serial port dongle which plugs into the serial port of your UPS and reprograms the battery constant value for you to the correct value." Is that true?
I have a USB cable (no serial) and Mac and Linux machines (no Windows). The software I have been using to query the battery is call apcupsd (from http://apcupsd.org). I'd very much appreciate any instructions/help to get this thing reset properly.
Plugged into the battery is a Linux (Ubuntu) machine, iMac and MacBook Air.
apcupsd software reports the following information:
