Good Morning,
within my work as a student trainee, I need to configure an UPS-szenario.
We've got an APC Smart-UPS 3000 RM
Model: Smart-UPS 3000 RM
Firmware Revision: 666.6.I
Manufacture Date: 01/05/07
Serial Number: xxx
This Managementcard has to send the snmp trap / shutdown ping to some CentOS release 4.4 (Final) Clients.
I've installed (on the client)
java version 1.6.0_14
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_14-b08)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 14.0-b16, mixed mode, sharing)
and the APC PowerChute : pcns223Linux.tar.gz
The installation was without errors on /opt/APC/PowerChute/group1/
when I type in /etc/init.d/PowerChute start , the service is still stopped, so I tried to configure Link: [like here|http://aragorn.unibe.ch/usv/dwnld/pcns/install.htm#ConfigUtil]
From within the PowerChute/lib Directory, type
java -cp m11.jar:confutil.jar:../comp/Notifier.jar:..comp/CommandFileRunner.jar PCNSUtilApp
When I proceed this, I always get
java.lang.NullPointerException
at UtilResources.ReadConfigFile(Unknown Source)
at PCNSUtilApp.main(Unknown Source)
Configuration Utility Error: java.lang.NullPointerException
What can I do? I didn't find anything on the net, so for me it looks like a catch 22.
Hope to get some feedback.
Thanks with kind regards
Timo from Germany

Good Morning again,
i am still looking forward towards a constructive feedback.
The situation still doesn't work out yet.
The problem is, that i am still not able to install the powerchute network shutdown client (pcns223Linux.tar.gz) for my CentOS 4.4 to connect it to my APC module.
I got the latest java JDK version.
Any suggestions?
Thanks folks and kind regards
timo t.
