My APC always shuts down by it's self when not in use.. By not in use i mean I'll go a few days without using the desktop computer and when i go to start it.. there is no power.. i have to push the button on apc to start it.. i never got a disk with it and i noticed a USB connection.. I don't have that connected.. not sure if that means anything..

Hi Bill,
Could you confirm which outlet the desktop is plugged into? What LED's are lit when you the unit is on and powering the desktop and are these same LED's on prior to pressing the power to then turn on your desktop?
You should not have to connect the USB cable to operate the unit.
Regards,

In these instances when you computer is off and you come back to find the UPS off as well, do you experience loses in utility power?
I would recommend resetting the unit by unplugging it from utility power, unplugging any equipment plugged into it, disconnecting the internal battery, and holding down the power button for about 30 seconds. After this time period, reconnect everything and monitor the unit for any changes. If this issue continues, I would advise calling into APC technical support to start a case for further assistance.
