Hello,
I'm trying to set up Nagios monitoring for an APC Smart-UPS 750 with a AP9630 network card. I found a really awesome tutorial with all the OIDs I could need here: [http://wiki.nagios.org/index.php/Howtos:snmp-apc-smart-ups] and set that up on a test machine but all of the tests came back saying that the OIDs don't exist. I initially figured that the OIDs in the tutorial were incorrect and grabbed the latest MIB from the APC website (powernet403.mib). I loaded it up in tkmib and found out that the OIDs were correct, however they are not returning any values. There is actually a large subtree which is inaccessible. Most of the values that I want have an OID that starts with .1.3.6.1.4.1.318.1.1.1, however walking it reveals only one value.
~$ snmpwalk -c (my community string) -v 1 (UPS IP) .1.3.6.1.4.1.318.1.1.1
SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.318.1.1.1.8.1.0 = INTEGER: 2
I have enabled SNMPv1 in the settings and don't believe there are any network issues that could be causing the problem. The community string I'm using has read-only permissions. Is there something extra I need to configure to access this data? What could be causing this problem?
Thanks!
Sapphyre
tl;dr: APC Smart-UPS 750. AP9630 network card. Missing SNMP values in the .1.3.6.1.4.1.318.1.1.1 range. How do I get them?

A few points:
1. Make sure you install the latest version of the NMC firmware. The latest version as of writing is sumx515.
2. The PowerNet MIB describes OIDs used across all of our devices. To find the OIDs supported by a specific device, you'd need to walk the device as you have done. OIDs that don't show up are most likely not reported by your device.
3. In your case however, the one OID that shows up is upsCommStatus with the value "noComm". So I suspect the network management card isn't communicating with the UPS at all, so nothing shows up in SNMP. After making sure you have the latest firmware, check the web interface to make sure it's communicating with the UPS. Then try walking the device again.

I don't know if you're having the exact same problem as me, but I could not figure out where to input the SNMP values at the console prompt. That's because you can't.
Once you give the card an IP address and make it available on the network, you have to then login through a web browser and enter the SNMP community strings there... under Administration - Network - SNMP - Access Control.
Good luck

In our next major firmware (v6.0.6) due out March 2013 (most likely next week) for AP9630/31 only with sumx and sy applications, we will be allowing for full SNMP configuration for v1/v3 at the console prompt via SSH/telnet. Today, on v5.X.X for AP9630/31/35, you can only enable/disable SNMP as Tim Smith just noted. Figured I'd mention it for anyone else who comes across this post when the new firmware is out for these applications or future applications that move to v6.0.X.

how can i know if this value: upsAdvState Totaltime on battery: 1.3.6.1.4.1.318.1.1.1.11.2.7 is compatible with SUA750I? it doesn't return anything , that means that is incompatible?

The only UPS that provides UPSAdvStateTotalTimeOnBattery is a Symmetra Megawatt system. The SmartUPS 750 doesn't provide it.
And yes, if the UPS does not respond to an SNMP OID, it means it's not supported. You can walk the UPS to determine which OIDs are supported.
