This morning the UPS faulted and all the server rebooted, once the ups came back up I checked the properties page and I see that there is a battery fault and an alert (see attached picture). I click on the alert and I see this:
11 2011/07/25 07:56:35 Battery Fault
12 2011/07/25 07:56:37 No Battery
13 2011/07/25 07:56:37 Replace Battery
14 2011/07/25 07:56:37 Unavailable Battery
but on the properties page (see attached picture) under battery status it says the battery is fully charged and the last periodic test was ok.
What is the ups telling me? Do I need to replace the battery, or the whole system?
Thanks,
Jason

The batteries are 4 years old and the ambient temp is around 17-20 degrees Celsius.
I believe the fault may be with the extra external battery (A MGE Pulsar EXB 2200/3200) but I can't figure out how to remove the battery from there. I think I may hace to disconnect the whole EXB unit. Is it safe to do that while the ups is running?

Hi mpeeng, the MGE pulsar is a single phase MGE ups which has been taken over by Eaton. You should be able to contact them at 1 800 356 5794 for further assistance. Hope this helps.

Sounds most likely just a faulty battery, how old is it? What's the ambient temp? Is it discharged/tested often?

Well the temp is good but even at that 4 years is about end of useful life for the small batteries in them. Should be ok to disconnect if you still have internal batteries and the system is not on battery.
