Looking for a SME doublecheck of my config...
I just finished configuring the power management tools for a rack and would like to throw it up to see if I've got a good config or if there are changes that will improve the setup:
The system is a full height rack for industrial application, it has built in air conditioning (not on UPS), Redundant SRT3000's equipped with Network Management cards and temp monitoring.
The rack has an HPE 3par array, 2 Windows file controllers and a VMWare Host (along with switchgear). I installed the APC client on the file controllers (when the setup completed they both said they couldn't talk to the power supplies (timeout adding client) but they were added to the client list and now appear to be connected just fine) and added the vmware appliance and configured it to shut down the host.
I set the Universal I/O temp monitoring to 40 and 50c (overtemp and critical overtemp), and set the ups's to shut down after clients.
I'm expecting the config to do 2 things - gracefully shut down if either input power is lost or if the Air Conditioning faults for some reason (it takes about 15 minutes for the rack to exceed 50c if the AC isn't running).
The UPS's need to shut down once the various computers are down because the 3par array isn't being told to shut down (HPE indicated I couldn't communicate with it to have a graceful shutdown)... so the only way to turn it off is to cut power once the file controllers are off.
Does this sound reasonable... any criticisms/suggestions?
