All,
I hope this isn't a silly question and I fee like an idiot for asking.
I have 18 virtual servers, we use hyper V and their all Server 2012 R2. I have 2 Hyper-V hosts with Server 2012 R2 core on those. Also two physical domain controller servers.
Say the power went out and it's been 10 minutes andit is still down. I'd like to start the shutdown of these machines. Starting with the 18 virtual machines, than the hosts, followed by the domain controllers. Never mind on the settings with this. My question focuses on the software.
The UPS is already setup with an IP address and all. I can access the web interface. As far as the software goes on the 18 servers and the cluster. What software am I installing on all those to communicate the the battery backup interface. Can someone point me to the software that needs to be run on each VM and also the hosts?

Hi,
You need to install PowerChute Network Shutdown on the 2 hosts only. You do not need to install PowerChute on each VM. Once PowerChute has been installed on each host you then would configure VM shutdown in the PowerChute web interface. See page 20 of the PowerChute Hyper-V User's Guide.
